NFL World Reacts To Steve Young's Lamar Jackson Take

As a player, Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young became one of the NFL's all-time greats, thanks in large part to his exceptional mobility.

But Young believes the Ravens' reliance on the running sport could prevent them from winning championships in the future.

Young argued on ESPN Monday Night Countdown that the Ravens had turned their running game into one of the most sophisticated in the NFL, but they did so at the cost of their passing game.

He firmly believes that the Ravens are hindering quarterback Lamar Jackson's development as quarterback in the process.

"Unless he has the chance to show that he's a sophisticated passer of football in a sophisticated passing game, paid like Patrick Mahomes?'

Because they haven't given him a chance to be Patrick Mahomes. So unless they do, Lamar Jackson is cursed because of the Ravens, not Lamar Jackson," Young said.

A lot of NFL fans on Twitter find themselves completely agreeing with Young here. Many are pointing out that the Ravens can do a lot to help Jackson grow as a passerine.

The end result is a situation where the Ravens have been reluctant to pay Jackson the kind of money that Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray received in their contract extensions.
