After an incredible win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera has the potential to get his team back into playoff contention.

But which quarterback will he use this week? Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Rivera announced that Taylor Heinicke would start this coming week against the Texans.

Rivera also revealed that quarterback Carson Wentz is going to resume throwing after recovering from his recent injury.

Heinicke didn't exactly impress with his performance on Monday night against the Eagles. But he was efficient enough with the ball to lead the Commanders to a 32–21 victory.

In four starts this season, Heinicke is 3-1 with five touchdowns along with a 62 percent completion rate, 840 passing yards and four interceptions. He is now 10-10 for his career.

Though after a win like Monday, Ron Rivera would be hard-pressed to take over the starting job from Taylor Heinicke, even if Carson Wentz was fully healthy.

The Commanders have won four of their last five games and have gained significant momentum in the final eight weeks of the season.

Rivera should stick with Heinicke until it is clear that a change is needed.

Maybe it comes against the Texans this week, maybe it comes against the New York Giants in one of their upcoming games.

But Heinicke has done enough for this time to garner some confidence from the team.
