MLB world reacts to devastating Walker Buehler news
The Dodgers announced Monday that Buehler will undergo season-end elbow surgery next week. The Los Angeles Dodgers may be the best team in Major League Baseball this season.
But losing right-hander Walker Buehler for the rest of the season and season after season is certainly going to affect his chances of winning the 2022 World Series.
The two-time All-Star, who finished fourth in NL Cy Young Award voting last season, hasn't pitched for Los Angeles since June 10.
He was hopeful that he could return by the end of the season and more importantly, after the season the 28-year-old featured in 12 matches this year with a 4/02 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 65 innings.
Buehler was aiming for a return in late September, when the Dodgers initially diagnosed him with a grade 2 right flexor tendon strain.
The NL West-leading Dodgers will have to move on—as they attempt to fend off the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, and others to take the top seed in the National League.
While we wait to see how much the Dodgers remember Buehler when it matters most, the news certainly created some strong reactions around the MLB world.
