Johnny Depp's win in his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard stunned legal experts, one of whom said he had never seen such a PR-related turnaround in his 20-year career.
The jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. Depp's punitive damages.
Heard, 36, was awarded $2 million by the jury in compensatory damages for her counterclaim but nothing in punitive damages.
Depp said that the best is yet to come and a new chapter has finally begun.Truth never perishes.”
On the other hand, Heard expressed disappointment over the verdict. She penned out a note on Twitter which read, "The disappointment I feel today is beyond words.
I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.
"I'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously."
The case spanned seven weeks with 24 days of testimony. Reason the case dragged on was because it dealt with damages and actors don't work 9-to-5 jobs where lost income is easier to determine.
