Jaguars Reportedly Release Veteran Kicker

The Jacksonville Jaguars were expecting this training camp to be a kicking contest between veterans Ryan Santoso and Elliot Fry. But an injury has settled the fight.

According to PFN NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Jaguars have cut Fry from injured reserve with an injury settlement. He will now only try to find his 10th NFL team in the last four years.

Fry made his NFL debut in 2020 with the Falcons, scoring a field goal for them in Week 4. He later returned to the practice team.

Fry spent 2021 with the Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals.

He scored four of five field goals between the Chiefs and the Bengals, but missed an extra point and a field goal while with the Chiefs.

Santoso made his NFL debut in 2019 as a kickoff specialist for the Tennessee Titans. He didn't start scoring field goals with the Carolina Panthers and later the Detroit Lions until 2021.

Santoso ended the 2021 season 4-of-5 on field goals and 6-of-8 on extra points. Now it appears he is on track to start again in Week 1 except for the unexpected.
