Is a Jae Crowder reunion in the cards?
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald said the Miami Heat would be open to a trade for Jay Crowder, who left Miami to sign with the Phoenix Suns during the condensed 2020 season.
This is the second time Jackson has linked Heat and Crowder this summer. In July, he said the Heat could trade for Crowder or Harrison Barnes if there was no trade for Kevin Durant.
Crowder was a pleasant surprise after his trade to Miami in February 2020. He could defend and defend an opposing force like Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Miami let him go to Sun as he was unwilling to match their offer. It wasn't until they signed Tucker that the Heat found their crowd replacement.
Mo Harkless was a disaster. KZ Okpala proved to be an NBA draft mistake. Trevor Ariza was the best he could get, but his 35-year-old version wasn't good enough.
As we approach the 2022-23 season, Miami could be heading to training camp without a replacement for Tucker.
At the start of the 2020-21 season, the hole in Miami's power forward was clear. They shouldn't wait to trade for Crowder if the start of this season looks to be lackluster once again.
