The Cleveland Browns are hoping that the December return of suspended quarterback Deshaun Watson will be enough to save their season.

The Browns sit at 3-6, good enough for third place in the AFC North standings, with Josh Allen on the docket and a game against the Buffalo Bills.

Watson returned to practice this week for the first time since the NFL increased his suspension from eight to 12, per the terms of his suspension.

Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt met with the assembled local media on Thursday and discussed Watson's practice performance.

"I know he's been working hard while he's away from the building. Excited to see him out there," Van Pelt said, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. ,

"He made a few throws after practice, which is what we call the 'period of opportunity.'" You're like, 'Oh, well, that's impressive stuff.' So he looks good. Keep working with him.

He's been in the room for a while now, so I think he has a pretty good understanding of how we operate a game week and how to change that when the time comes.

The Browns are next in action when they face the Bills at Ford Field in Detroit after the NFL moved the game to avoid a massive snow storm in New York.
